Digging into it further, the pagination setting for WordPress had to be updated i.e. Blog pages show at most

Interestingly, there isn’t the option to collapse it unless the page is refreshed.

Can this be implemented using a child theme or preferably natively?

It would require a custom solution unfortunately.

I’ve not heard any other requests for this before but will keep in mind if it comes up more often 🙂
