Blog Layout with recent posts with pics on the right

I am using the latest GP Premium release and need to achieve a blog layout like this:

I read a lot but was no way near successful. Please help.

You will need a plugin like this in right sidebar widget area:
https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/recent-posts-widget-extended/

We’ve used it in several sites in our library like:

I installed it, works fine.
Next problem is that I want to see just excerpts on the left, but the respective buttons in the blog config don´t do anything…
Any idea?
