I’ve installed your blog page but the design isn’t what I’d like and there isn’t much I can do to change it. Here’s another site with the Generate-Page theme, but it uses the front page to collect posts and I’ve been able to add a menu to it. I’d much rather be able to do that. Is there a way, perhaps some code on an ordinary page?

sorry i am a little unclear on what you require. On the Short Stories site do you want to add a Navigation to the header ?
No I want my blog on another site to look like the short stories site. I did that site with your theme with the front page being the latest posts. I want to do the same thing with this other site, but this time I have to use the Blog feature as the front page is a static page. Here’s the blog, http://thehmc.ca/james
OK so it requires the Left Sidebar which you can enable in the Customizer > Sidebars. But you’re using that same sidebar elsewhere so to have it just display the nav widget for the Blog you’ll need a plugin like this:

Then you can use the Layout Element to disable the Primary Nav from the Blog.
