Blog Excerpt

Hello guys,
I hope you are well. Please can you tell me how I can go about adjusting what the blog excerpts show? At the moment, they are reading the TOC which doesn't make much sense. Can I point them to another area of the page?

Hi there,
the simplest fix would be to use the Excerpt field in the post editor.
Damn! I totally missed that! Thank you David that's awesome :) Stoked that there is an easy solution!
Ah, that hasn't worked 100% unfortunately.... When I enter my own excerpt in the post edit area, the GP ReadMore button (Display read more as button bit I'm talking about) disappears. I checked in Customize and saw that the excerpt word count was 20, so I thought increasing it to 50 might fix this, but it didn't. Any ideas? You can see what I'm talking about on the top 2 posts which I've added my own excerpt to:
