Blog Customizer Will Not Show Excerpt

When I customize my blog view I have toggled between "show full post" and "show excerpt", but I am not getting anything to change. It is showing the full post by default. Any way to fix this?
Hi Gary,
Couple things to check.
Are you using the more tag in your posts? This will force the full post (up to the more tag) to display: https://generatepress.com/knowledgebase/using-the-more-tag/
Are you using Post Formats? If so, you'll want to switch to "Standard" in order to show the excerpts.
