Block Element Showing Up Twice
10 replies · Started by Matt Stern on May 2, 2021
Hi Guys,
I've created a block element to apply to posts. For some reason, it's showing up twice, as you can see here: https://sternstaging.com/we-never-forget-that-its-your-home/
I've tried deleting it and recreating it, and also tried both page hero and hook element type. Still showing up twice. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Matt
When I changed the location rule to "Blog" from "Posts" > "All Posts" the issue resolved. Is this a bug, or is there some reason that the element was duplicated when Posts were selected?
Hi there,
what was the original Block Element type ? eg. Page Hero, Content Template ?
Page hero, set to show on "Posts" > "All Posts"
Any chance you can change it back so I can see the issue? Temporary admin login details would be great as well if possible.
Thanks!
Hi Tom, sure. I've set the element back to show on "All Posts."
The duplicate issue is back on https://sternstaging.com/we-never-forget-that-its-your-home/
But the latest post I added looks fine: https://sternstaging.com/define-your-audience-simplify-your-life/
Another oddity, this page: https://sternstaging.com/blog/, which I added with a location rule, has padding that's different from the other pages. It's the same block element. I feel like I'm missing something or there's a ghost in the machine and I should start with a fresh install... :/
Admin access in the private info box.
Thanks in advance.
It looks like you've added the Hero directly into the post when adding the content.
Block Elements work by hooking the Element into the post automatically, so you can make changes to it and have those changes apply across all of your posts without having to manually update every post.
If you delete the Hero from the post - you should be good to go.
Not too sure what you mean by the blog padding - any chance you can expand on that?
Well, that was strange. I never manually put that hero section into the post. It just showed up there. I know that sounds crazy. ;)
Any way, I deleted it and it's looking good now.
Regarding the padding I mentioned, if you compare these two pages:
https://sternstaging.com/define-your-audience-simplify-your-life/
and https://sternstaging.com/blog/
You can see on the blog listing page that the title is way up near the main nav. These pages are using the same page hero element, so why is the title in a different place on the blog listing? (not technically an archive).
I've looked at all the settings I can think of but can't figure it out.
Hi Matt,
The blog page page hero is merged with the header while the single post page hero is not.
Check your header element's location setting.
Let me know :)
Ahh, that did the trick. Thank you!
You are welcome :)
