    Hi there,

I had a block element hooked into my “above_footer” area for quite some time, and recently edited the text a bit. (It’s a self bio.)

I also copied the same content from the block element over to my sidebar widget, but didn’t mess with any reusable blocks, as the original element didn’t have reuseable blocks.

Now the block element is not rendering correctly; it’s missing the background image & the grid alignment/sizing is all messed up. However, it still looks right in the preview/editor.

    Please help. Thanks!

    Hi there,

Ok, when you copy a block from one place to another it will carry over the blocks unique ID which is where the blocks front end styles get saved.

So, if you copied the block to your sidebar and then removed the background image, it would affect the original block you copied.

    To fix that:

edit your above footer block element.
Select the parent container block, and from the block toolbar select Duplicate.
    Then delete the original container.

This will regenerate the unique ID for that container and it should fix the CSS issue.

Thanks David – that fixed it!

    I’m very surprised I haven’t run into this before… or if I have, I didn’t notice.

If you don’t mind me asking, what are the other front end / style properties that get attached to unique block IDs?

It only happens in the Elements post type.
Any style edits you make in a GenerateBlocks block settings will be attached to that unique ID
