Tom
Hi there!
First off, I love the website I built using the GeneratePress theme. However, I’m not very active on my site and I let my GP Premium license key expire. Now, I’m finally wanting to make some changes, and my WordPress Admin Panel is only showing blank screens: dashboard, themes, widets, menus — all blank.
My site is working, but I can’t make any changes to it.
I renewed my GeneratePress license key earlier today, but don’t know the first thing about how to get it working with WordPress again. I had hoped hitting the update icon would do something positive, but no such luck.
Most of the suggestions I’ve seen online have mentioned disabling and/or reloading themes, plugins, etc., but I don’t know how to do that without being able to use the WP Admin Panel.
This is my website: http://www.TomCrehan.com
I’m not sure if this is a question for GeneratePress, WordPress or HostGator (my web hosting provider) but I would greatly appreciate any help/advice you could give. Thank you so much!
Tom

StaffCustomer SupportHi Tom,
Thanks for reaching out 🙂
I don’t think it’s a GP issue as GP has no control over the WP admin panel.
It’s likely a WP issue.
I would suggest reaching out to your host, and ask if they see anything suspicious.

Thanks, Ying,
I’m working my way through the HostGator help forums right now. And I’ll do the same on WordPress.org.
My rough understanding is that it could be a 1) Database issue; 2) Plug-ins issue; 3) Theme issue. But which to tackle first and how (because there’s lots of different advice!) is what I’m trying to sort out. I’m not super technical and I don’t want to blow everything up… lol. (I did backup my site through HostGator’s cPanel, so hopefully I’m safe even if I mess up.)
I appreciate your response… and the very good-looking GP theme!

StaffCustomer SupportYou are welcome, Tom 🙂
A way to check if it’s theme related is to switch to a twenty twenty theme.
If your host offers staging site service for free, I would recommend creating a staging site, then you can do testings on the staging site, and the live site will stay safe.
Let me know if there’s anything we can help with.
