Written correctly:

define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true );

I have actually resolved it!
I don’t know what the exact problem was, but what I did was copy page.php and content-page.php from template theme into my child theme ***without making any changes*** as those were the files referred to in the resolved links that I initially sent you above as examples…
So I’m guessing that they would override whatever it is that’s conflicting with the plugin? And the chances are that you guys already had those files in your child theme, which is why you never had the same issue?
I’m just interested to know for future reference…
Thanks,
Sophie

Okay so, it started working after I uploaded those 2 files, I made a few test topics and everything was fine.
I deleted the test topics ready to send to client to test, and now it’s not working again – and the table on http://cbdsiblings.com/community/ is still showing 4 topics although they are no longer there.
Still no errors from debug mode. I’m totally lost now…
Thanks, let me know if you need any more info.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperI wonder if there’s some sort of caching issue going on? Does your server have built-in caching?

It’s just not working at all again, with our without those files. Could it be some kind of reaction from when I deleted my test ones after it started working again?
I know it seems ridiculous that it could stop working without me changing anything…but is it possible that some kind of php script has executed from me deleting the test topics and permanently changed another file?
I’ve tried deleting and re-adding those files again after it stopped working again but it hasn’t resolved it, and still no debug errors coming through…
Thanks

Yes we use Hummingbird, but I’ve tested disabling that…I’ll try to disable all the plugins again in case anything has changed now…

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperThe fact that it’s working/not working based on random changes (with no code changes) makes me think caching might be involved.
A white screen like that typically can’t happen without some sort of error being reported (on the screen or in a log).
I wonder if your hosting company would be able to see the issue? They would know if there’s some kind of server-level caching that needs to be adjusted.

Okay yes that makes sense. I’ve checked with Bluehost cpanel and caching is set to off, but I’ll raise a support ticket with them anyway in case there’s anything else they can see – will keep you updated!
Thanks,

Hi Tom,
After much discussion and testing, there is nothing that Bluehost can do to help unfortunately.
Is there any way I could give direct access to anything?
We think that it is a conflicting script issue, but whether it would be yourselves or bbPress who can help I really don’t know, and I’m starting to lose hope at this point lol.
Is there anything you can suggest?
I cannot actually contact bbPress as I cannot login to bbpress.org, with any of mine/my client’s WordPress credentials and they didn’t get back to me on Social Media either, so I’m a bit stuck there too!
Thanks,
Sophie

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperThat’s a shame they aren’t willing to help more.
Kind of a pain, but try this:
1. Create a fresh WordPress installation within a sub-directory on the same domain. So something like yourdomain.com/test
2. Only install GP, GP Premium and bbPress.
Does the issue happen on the fresh install?

Okay wow, spot on thanks – so I guess the mystery will remain (none of have this much time to spare, right!)
All set up successfully:
https://community.cbdsiblings.com/
https://community.cbdsiblings.com/forums/forum/test-1/
https://community.cbdsiblings.com/forums/topic/test-topic-1/
And I’ll just need to have a play with the permalinks to make them a bit more appealing, hopefully can import some branding/customisation from main site, and use this subdomain as a community hub.
Thanks, I wish I’d thought of this about 6 working hours ago! Lol…
Will you still be investigating the issue at all, or is it not really worth it? I’d just really like to know the resolution if it ever came up!
Best wishes,
Sophie
