I am looking to improve the web little by little and now it is time to replace a video gallery that I have on my homepage through a plugin.
The videos are in articles and the first option I thought of making a featured video and then using a query to put it on the homepage
I've read that you can't make a youtube featured video without a plugin, so that option is ruled out.
Would be possible a query with a "video" label filter but adding the player symbol on the featured image?.
I accept ideas
Thanks

Hi Jose,

It would be possible to add the video in individual posts, and then set the post type to "Video". Then, you can use a Query Loop to Query that.

You can also place the videos in a Custom Post Type and Query instead.

It's possible to then add a "Play" icon on top of the Featured image through some custom CSS.

You just need to add the image of the play icon under the Image Block for the Featured image first.

Hello Fernando,
I think the best options are the first two. Video post style or custom post type and create one for video. I have tried changing the style to video. I see that it locates the video but also leaves the featured image empty. Also, if I look for the category in which that video is, it does not resume the description, it puts the entire publication with video text photos.... I forgot to comment that I am using the theme dispatch.
Thank you.

Hi there,

how many video posts do you intend to have ?

Only one post of the last three or four videos in home page
Thanks

Simplest option would be to use a GenerateBlocks Grid Block, and add the Video Embeds inside the grid.
And add any links manually.

Hi David,
Finally I have done so and I have eliminated the plugin. Thank you so much
Would you make more changes to the homepage to improve performance?
I'm already quite satisfied
Thanks David

Looks good to me!
Glad to see you found a solution!
