Background image on home page displays on desktop, doesn't display on mobile

I had issues with the home page background image not displaying earlier this week on the test site. Only on mobile browsers: Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Firefox Focus.

I couldn't figure out what was causing the issue, despite checking CSS, home page settings, clearing browser cache, computer cache, and dns host cache. Disabled a plugin, enabled it again.

Somehow the image finally displayed. Thought the problem was fixed.

Launched the site today.

And the home page image on the live site doesn't display again. The test site correctly displays the background image.

I've made no changes to the settings and configuration in GeneratePress. Added no new plugins.

What am I missing?

Hi Deborah,

I'm not seeing a background image on desktop or mobile on your live site:

Where is the image added?

Have you tried disabling all plugins to eliminate any conflicts or caching issues?

Your test link isn't working for me either.

Hi Leo,

Thank you for quick reply.

The image displays below the page title, before the page content.

Here's a screenshot from Firefox desktop. I just checked the page in desktop Firefox private window and desktop Chrome incognito window, the background image displays in both.

The test link doesn't display anything? Or the test link doesn't display the background image?

Yes, I disabled all plugins except GP Premium, Generate Blocks, and Simple CSS.

Hi Leo,

Thanks. Confirmed it's pointing to the image URL on the live site.

That is interesting.

When I visited the home page to check the setting for the background image, I confirmed it was the link to the live site.

Home page background URL setting

Installing Velvet Blues now.

In that case I'd say it's some sort of a caching issue so Velvet Blue likely won't work.

Make sure the caching plugin is cleared if you are using one and make sure there isn't any server caching or anything. Worth checking with your hosting support.

Thanks, Leo.

I haven't installed any caching plugin.

I resaved the image in the home page. Cleared cache in the browser. Flushed cache in the Managed WordPress hosting. Flushed cache in the DNS hosts.

Checked the page source, it points to the live site (no longer points to the test site).

Tried the home page on mobile Firefox, mobile Chrome, and Firefox Focus.

All mobile browsers display the home image now. And desktop Firefox and Chrome

Glad to hear.
