[Resolved] Background image not displaying on Page Hero Block Element

Hi,

I’m trying to use the Page Hero Block Element on a client site. For some reason, I’m unable to get the background image to appear. Even using one of the pre-made templates, the background image doesn’t show up. The page title, author, date and background color all display. But the background image won’t.

I’ve cleared the cache, deactivated all other plugins, everything is up to date and still can’t get it to display. When I look in the Chrome dev tools, the ::before element shows no URL for the background-image property.

I’ve checked the link and the block doesn’t seem to be loading any URL – https://share.getcloudapp.com/yAurn725

Have you tried regenerating GB CSS? You can do that on Admin Dashboard > GenerateBlocks > Settings.

Note: If you’re using a CDN on the site or if the server has any backend/server sided page caching, you should clear that as well. (some hosts call it deep caching.)

Hi Elvin,

Thanks for the response. I tried regenerating CSS and looking for a way to clear the CDN cache, only to realize that block used the dynamic background image. Since I had no featured image set, it had no image to use. I toggled “use fallback image” and it used the image I set in the Backgrounds > image URL setting.

Ah yeah that makes sense. It had nothing to fetch because there was no featured image set so nothing displayed.
