Background Image In Sections

Is there a way to specify a height in sections if you have an image?
say you set the background image to an image that is 1000 pixels high, can you set the section to be 1000 high or would i be better adding a slider
also overlays on background image in sections
can you add an overlay? if so can you change the opacity?
You would have to set the height of the Section using CSS - it's typically not a good idea, as the layout will look bad on mobile. You can increase the height of your section using the top/bottom padding.
There's a background overlay option within the Section settings which uses your background color on top of the image.
