How do I add a background image or change the background color in the lower part of the site? Where posted widgets.

If you have our Colors or Backgrounds add-ons, you can do both inside the Customizer.

Did you install the Backgrounds add-on?

If so, go to “Appearance > Customize > Background Images > Footer Widget Area” to upload the background image.
