Hailey
I’m using the Avery theme, and I cannot find anywhere that will allow me to edit the category pages, or the pages from the main menu (Design, Lifestyle, etc.). I was able to remove the sidebars, but that’s it. Thanks for your help!

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
so category archive pages are not directly editable as they are not a static page.
But they can be redesigned. What kinds of changes do you want to make to them?

I want it to look very similar to my home page: banner image with text over it, then under that I want a 4 column block where I can add 4 pictures that link to downloads, then under that I want to have a 4 column showposts block filtered just to that category, and under that, my email CTA.

Hi Hailey,
You can use a Block Element – Loop Template to create such a structure for your archive pages. See here: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-loop-template/
Here are a few simple steps you can follow:
1. Create a Loop Template.
2. Open the Homepage and copy the banner from the edit page. Paste it to your Loop Template. Make the necessary changes.
3. Add a 4-column GB Grid Block under that. Add the images through GB Image Blocks.
4. Add a GB Query Loop Block: https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/query-loop-overview/
5. Enable “Inherit Query from Template” from the Block Settings.
6. Go to Settings > Reading, and change the Blog pages show at most value to 4.

Thank you. I am still so new…How would this be different than a WP Show Posts block?

WP Show Posts has already been merged with GenerateBlocks.
This is why we recommend using the GenerateBlocks Query Loop Block.
The GB Query Loop Block is more flexible design-wise as well.

Hi again! Okay, so I’m making a query loop block, and when I go to click on Image, I should be able to see all the block settings for the image. The only settings I see are Styles (default and rounded), and Advanced (which only shows the HTML anchor and additional CSS Classes. I’m trying following a youtube video for creating this query block, and he has an entire section to enable dynamic data and select the image source. I only have those options when I click on the Post Template above the image, but of course, that’s not where I want the image to go. Can you help?

Yes, we can help. I believe you may have added a WordPress Image Block. Can you check?
If yes, replace it with a GenerateBlocks Image Block instead.
The logo for the GB Image Block is blue. The one from WP is black.
