Avatar Cannot be activated

Hi there,
I added an author box to my single posts. I would like this box to have an avatar, but the avatar is not displaying.
Tried to find an option to activate avater on dashboard >> Settings, and there is none.
I also have noticed that on my author page there is no option to upload an avatar picture whatsoever.

Did you use a PHP function in a Hook element to add the author box?
