Hi.. My cpanel has a feature called autoSSL that basically shows the lock icon, sets itself up on sites that is verified by cPanel’s partner signing authority, Comodo. As I understand it, if everything flies right while a page is being assembled I may or may not get the secure notice. It set itself up on some of my sites and others it did not. The server tech said it depends on a number of factors, including the theme.

Are you familiar with this particular cpanel feature and does Generate Press work with it by any chance?

I know there’s more to setting up a secure site than a cpanel function but it would be nice to have something like this for my sites where security (carts, etc) is not an issue.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

As long as everything on the page is served over https, then the lock symbol will work.

As for GP, you may need to update these settings once https is enabled:

    • Site logo
    • Retina logo
    • Navigation logo
    • Mobile header logo

That’s because those options save the URL to the image, and use the protocol that was set when they were uploaded. So if you were on http when you uploaded them, you need to re-upload them once https is set.

This plugin does a great job of automating everything for you: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/
