Are shortcodes supported?

Are shortcodes enabled with GeneratePress out of the box?
I've selected a page, edit, switched from Visual to Text, and entered on a line of its own, the shortcode: [sitemap]
On Updating and publishing the page, I see only: [sitemap]
Are shortcodes supported? Do they need enabling? Entered in a different way?

Shortcode is supported by default. What are you trying display?
They're enabled, however that shortcode needs to have a function attached to it in order for it to render.
OK, I think I have solved it. I tried one other which didn't work (hence my query), and have subsequently discovered that some shortcodes are "exclusive" to wordpress.com. The ones that work out of the box are these shortcodes. I've now used the Caption shortcode fine.
