Archive Length Not Changing?

I'm trying to adjust the number of words showing in my archive pages. I've set the customizer to everything from 10 to 333 words and I still only get one line of text. How come? I turned off all my plugins and it still does the same thing.

Are you sure you are not using the custom excerpt metabox?
