Any issues with duplicating elements?

I have a plugin that allows me to duplicate posts, etc. Are there any issues with duplicating Elements?

What's happening is that I'd like to start adding banner images across the top of pages, and once I find settings that I like, I could just duplicate the element and then change the image. Or is there another way I should be doing this? (I can't use the featured images for this since they are optimized for social sharing, not the page layout.)

BTW, is there a place to give suggestions for improvements? I notice that for the Element custom post type you haven't got all the labels changed over. So when you update an element it says "Post Updated". Not a big deal, but it should be easy to fix.

Hi there,

That is the way to go as the element is just a custom post type.

Thanks for the suggestion. As mentioned, elements are just a custom post type so the "post updated" message is actually from WordPress itself.

Great. I have had problems in the past with duplicating custom post types, so I just wanted to double check.

Very true. However there is a way to customize the message in WordPress. I'm not sure how to do it, but I know that the custom post types I create using Pods allows it to be changed. For example, here is a custom post type called "Essays."

Of course technical users would know that Elements are just Posts (everything is posts!). But it is confusing for less savvy users (I'm selfishly thinking of my clients!).

In any case, is there a suggestions box so in the future I can give things like this there?

Thanks!

There isn't but I'll mention this suggestion to our team.

Thanks!

By the way, it would be a great feature to have the duplicate function integrated in the plugin. I'm pretty sure that there is often a need to duplicate headers. While users could, of course, install a plugin for that or put some code in the functions.php, it would be great to have that out-of-the-box. Just my 2 cents.

We will make the change for the updated message :)

Great! I'm so happy to be using GP. Thanks

No problem :)

Excellent. Thank you!

You're welcome!
