Anchor Offset

Hi Guys,
Regarding in-page links. Just wondering what the recommended way is with dealing with in-page anchors when linking from another page within the site.
I am using the smooth-scroll class which adds the scroll offset to the anchor element when the link is on the same page. However, when linking from another page the anchor element doesn't recieve the top offset.
