All footer widgets disappeared except one

Hi,

Since the last WordPress update out of four footer widgets only one remains.

I installed the "Classic Widgets" extension hoping to find the three missing widgets in the deactivated widgets section in both languages. The list of deactivated widgets is empty.

Please advise on a solution.

Hi there,

Were the missing widgets coming from a third-party plugin?

Note: The theme doesn't control how this will behave. The theme can only add a widget area but the widgets themselves come from either WordPress core function or a plugin.

This is actually a good argument why Block Element - Site footer should be used. So your site isn't at the mercy of major changes of WordPress because it is saved by GP Premium.

Hi,

The three widgets were simply just internal links with a title.

Pretty much the same thing as the only widget left with the exception of just links.

It was a multilingual widget from WPML I guess. The only widget left does work multilingual.

When you are referin to Block element - site footer are you referring to the new WordPress footer block editor?

Please advide

It's quite difficult to parse if the widget is completely gone as WordPress core decides what widgets get retained. I'm not exactly sure if WPML has an update for the major change that came w/ WP 5.8.

I believe they have one so you may have to check if your site's WPML is updated to work on WP 5.8. You then check if the old widgets can be salvaged. It its completely gone, it may be more practical to just redo it w/ the new UI.

I'm referring to GP Element's Block Element - Site Footer.

OK Thanks

No problem. :D

Hi,

I just noticed that my header that I spent a ridiculous amount of hours - more like days - to actually make it work and display how I wanted it is missing the third section that had the opening hours and a button with phone number in it.

At the time it was a header as example 8 in documentation.

Wazzup?

Can you open a new topic for the new question?

Thanks!

Nope it's the same damn problem since the last update my header and footer is all screwed up.

Change the title and add header in it.

Got better things to do then spend countless days coding and then when it's all fucked up to have to jump through your hoops buddy.

Containing my anger now :)

Also please do me the pleasure of not responding to my support tickets.

So far you are the only one at GeneratePress support that made me waste tons of time to actually get the header working the way I wanted it.

In all your replies I find you to be cocky, borderline condescending and abrasive.

You are probably great at coding and to my point of view suck at support.

I'd rather wait then to have to put up with you.

By the way I don't have the slightest clue how to get my header and footer back to the way it was.

Hi there,

We're sorry you feel that way.

We're trying our best to sort things out for everyone. We apologize if we may sometimes seem offensive. It's likely the limitations of communicating w/ plain text. Inflections like an endearing tone of voice don't come with it. Please bear with us. :D

As for the issue itself:

Can you link us to a sample page with the header in question? Perhaps share the backend layout of it as well? Does it have a third-party block placed on it?

Also, did it stop working after any specific plugin update? Let us know. :D

Looking at the original topic, it's about footer widgets disappearing and not about header and footer disappearing so not quite the same topic.

I'll close this now so it's easier for us to track.

If you can open a new topic, ideally go through the debugging tips first, and provide the site URL then we are more than happy to take a look :)
