Adding a "Topsite" button to site

Hello,
I have just changed my theme to Generate Press.
I have an issue, I am a member of a Top Site (old school I know but it is a huge traffic booster) and since changing theme, the topsite no longer registers visits to the website.
The code for this is usually in my sidebar but when I saw it was no longer working, I moved to footer and then tried again by creating a hook.
Site URL is in private info, any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Niall
Hi there,
can you share the code you added so i can find it on the site and see whats (not) going on ?
<a href="http://www.birdingtop500.com/"><img src="https://www.birdingtop500.com/button.php?u=gardenbirdfeeder" alt="Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites" border="0" /></a>
Hello,
Here is the code, I have used 4 different themes on this site and always had the same code as a widget but just GP installation seems to stop it from registering visitors on the top site page.
Thanks for the help!
I can see the button at the single post ( its hard to see it on the blog as the Infinite loading posts keep it out of view ).
If i click the button it takes me to here:
http://www.birdingtop500.com
What am i missing ? Should it be doing something more ?
David,
The issue is since installing the theme, it is not registering as if anyone is browsing pages on my website.
When you go to the top sites page for my site here: http://www.birdingtop500.com/index.php?a=stats&u=gardenbirdfeeder
It shows a huge decline in numbers since the theme was installed (I get 1-1.5k visits a day), e.g. yesterday was 66, but was actually 1200 odd.
Something is stopping the traffic registering if this makes sense?
Thanks!
Is there any other tracking codes that were added to your old theme ?
No, no more tracking codes.
Only thing that has changed is the theme, plugins are all the same and all I had to change was to create a Hook for the google analytics code as it was injected into Divis theme editor section before.
So how does the top 500 site register a user visiting the site ? Does it rely on a user clicking the button ?
<a href="http://www.birdingtop500.com/"><img src="https://www.birdingtop500.com/button.php?u=gardenbirdfeeder" alt="Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites" border="0" /></a>
It is this code here. This is the only code provided, it is quite old fashioned I know but this is all I have ever had on the site and all they provide you with.
If TopSite is tracking any rel links to its sites - then there isn't anything in GP that would stop it from doing that.
I would suggest adding it back to the Sidebar in case it has problems finding ( doubtful ) below the infinite loader.
