Adding a search icon in main navigation

Hey guys, I'm looking for a way to add a search icon in the main navigation that when it's clicked by a user it opens in a search form, is it possible maybe using hooks? I've searched for a solution in the forum but can't find one.
Anyway would like to thank all of you for your work, once I found Generatepress it became irreplaceable.

you can enable navigation search in: Appearance > Customize > Layout > Primary Navigation.
