Add placeholder text to header search bar

Hi,

The header search bar is currently blank. I would like to add placeholder text i.e. 'Type here to search...' which disappears once the user begins to type a search query (similar to how the search widget works). I would also like to change the background colour for the search area to #f5f5f5

Hi there,

requires a little PHP Snippet which we provide here:

And the background color can be set in Customizer > Colors > Primary Navigation --> Search

Thank you for the quick response David. The PHP snippet worked.

I couldn't find the navigation colour option until I realised I hadn't activated the colors module :)
