    Hi,

When I enter a custom excerpt in my blog post the read button disappears.

I checked a recent thread about this and used the code that was posted but the button was still not there. In fact my customize section told me it was invalid.

    Can you help please?

    Thanks
    Joe

    Hi there,

these are the codes for adding the Read more:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/activating-read-custom-excerpt/

    The code is PHP.
This article explains how to add PHP to your site:

Thanks. I added the code and got this message:
‘Unable to save due to one invalid setting’

I read the link on PHP but I don’t really understand what it’s telling me. I have no idea what I’m doing. It’s like reading a language I don’t speak or understand. Sorry.

The easiest way is to install the Code Snippets plugin, create a new snippet, copy and paste this one of the snippets in the documentation page, then hit Save and Activate.
