Is there a way to activate GP Pro without having it automatically alter the pages on a site that is already live?

    Hi Kandy,

I don’t think that’s possible. You can do a new install and activate GP then it wouldn’t affect the live site?

Let us know what you are trying to achieve and we should be able to provide some suggestions ๐Ÿ™‚

I have recently taken over the management/maintenance of a website. I do not care for it’s appearance at all and the theme is one developed by the previous webmaster. No user’s guide is available, so I am lost. I want to use GP Premium to rebuild it.

If you don’t care about it’s current appearance then you can just activate GP?

A new install will be your best bet if you want to keep the current site live and maintain the current look.
Then you can build your site using GP on the new install.

Let me know if this answers your question.

Activating GeneratePress will change the look of your live website.

As Leo said, your best bet is designing the new site on another URL and moving it over when it’s all ready ๐Ÿ™‚
