Absolute Beginner: Must I hire a Developer or Are there Templates?

Hello,
I want to learn this myself, but I am an absolute beginner. Chose Generateplus due to its reputation as fast, flexible, and secure. Are there templates or childthemes that will make building my site easier? I do not have a specific ‘want my site to look like ________ (this)’ to show you, as I do not know what i want it to look like besides professional, consistent, and stunning! I cannot ask anymore at the risk of showing my ignorance further. Thanks!
