Jana
I’m having trouble using merge with content in Elements. My sidebar, where I have a secondary menu, is also merging and I can’t move it down.
Also, I need to add 2 email captures to the upper right top of each page. I tried to add them to the top bar but it didn’t enlarge the bar, only sent them under the hero – do you have any suggestion on making this work?
It’s a truly awesome and well-developed theme – so I know it’s something I’m missing!
Just so you know, I found out about your great theme by researching and finding 2 reviews on https://www.designbuildweb.com
Thanks! Jana

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi Jana,
I’m not able to see your site right now – it has a coming soon page up.
The merged header should only be used if there’s sufficient space between the header and the content. For example, there should be some sort of page hero with enough height to prevent it from overlapping your content/sidebar.
Have you considered using the Header widget in “Appearance > Widgets” for your captures?
Let me know 🙂

Thanks, Tom.
Could you give me the specs for a hero that would work? I’ve been experimenting and haven’t gotten it to work. The appearance > widgets didn’t work either for my captures – they also went underneath the hero. Maybe it’s all related to the face that the hero isn’t sized right?
Thanks, Jana

Did I just send my login to the forum? If so, could you delete that, Tom? Thanks.

StaffCustomer SupportI just removed your password.
Currently I don’t see any content inside the page hero. You’d want to add the slider as the content.
Have you checked out some of the examples here?
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/page-hero-examples/Might help if you can show an example or a mark of what you’d like to achieve 🙂
Lastly, make sure you reply here in the forum and not through e-mails.

Thanks, adding slider as content worked – except that it does not horizontally fill the space to not taken up by the logo. Even though when it’s in the body (I also put at the bottom of the front page just to compare). There must be something I’m missing but I’ve looked everywhere and on the forum as well. The slider is made with siteorigin. Thanks, Jana

StaffCustomer SupportHmm I currently see the slider added as a header widget, not page hero content.

Right – I don’t think I need that header widget anymore. But the problem is I can’t get the slider to fill the header widget space.

StaffCustomer SupportAny reasons it needs to be added as a header widget?
Have you tried adding it as the page hero content as suggested above?

I don’t know how to add it as a page hero content. Can you could send me the code to do so? I’ve looked at the documentation and couldn’t figure it out.

StaffCustomer SupportAre you adding the slider using a shortcode?
If so simply add the shortcode in the header element content box.
Basically replacing the Content part in these examples:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/page-hero-examples/With the slider.

That makes sense! But I can’t find the sideorigin shortcodes anywhere. I know it’s not your company but maybe you have some ideas?

Just heard back from site origin and the slider doesn’t come with shortcodes. Is there any other way to add it to hero content? Thanks, Jana

StaffCustomer SupportSo is it just a widget?
If so I wonder if this would work to turn it into a shortcode:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/widget-shortcode/If not then you’ll have to check with Site Origin’s support to see if there is a way to add their slider as regular HTML content.

Thank you, Leo, that worked! Just when I was thinking it was impossible! I do still need help, though.
I’m trying to get the logo to the right of the slider. Is there a way for the slider NOT to stretch across the whole page?
I’d like it to look something like this: https://awionline.org.I put this in the coding:
.page-hero-content [widget id=”sow-layout-slider-4″]
My site is open to view now: http://69.89.27.245/~animama7/testsite/Thanks SO much for hanging in there with me! Jana
