404.php nginx not working

Hi,
I try to override 404.php and make it work on Nginx. Sadly when I visit page/post that doesn't exist I get generic Nginx 404 page.
Any idea how to make it works?

It took me a while but I found what caused an issue. I had to remove the directive error_page 404 404.html.
