Hello,

I am getting a few 404 and 4XX errors on my site as indicated from an AHREFS site audit.

I have a 404 page setup in my sites elements section.

Perhaps I don't have the correct display rules set or toggled?

Can you advise with the correct location, exclude and user settings?

Note: I can also send a screenshot if necessary.

Thank you,

Christian

Hi there,

I believe 404 audits mean you have dead pages or links that point to non-existent/deleted/moved pages.

Does the audit specify which ones are broken? You should check them out and edit them accordingly. :D

Yes. I understand. They do indicate.

Can you indicate what I should toggle the location setting for it though? So the 404 page will display if necessary?

Should it be set to general -- entire site?

Can you indicate what I should toggle the location setting to be though for so it 404 page will display if necessary?

I'm not sure what you mean. The default behavior of WordPress is, if a page doesn't exist, the page the user attempted to visit will automatically show the default 404 page template.

There's no need to indicate that for the theme as it automatically does that.

Now, if you're question is, you have a Block element or a Hook element layout that you want to hook into the 404 page template, the display rule location to use is this - https://share.getcloudapp.com/04uAlnL5.

Note: I don't think any of these will fix the 404 errors found by ahref on your site. To fix this, you'll need to check the links of all your pages to check for any dead links.

Thank you! It was set correctly.

This was the answer I was looking for: "Now, if you’re question is, you have a Block element or a Hook element layout that you want to hook into the 404 page template, the display rule location to use is this – https://share.getcloudapp.com/04uAlnL5."

Thanks again !
