404 Error: Pagination on Category Page

I'm having an issue with pagination on category pages.

Example: https://insomniacoach.com/podcast/

This is a category page. If you scroll to the bottom and click page 2, a 404 error is displayed.

If I manually edit the URL from the autogenerated URL for page 2 (https://insomniacoach.com/podcast/page/2/) to https://insomniacoach.com/category/podcast/page/2/ the page will load correctly.

Any idea on how to fix this so page 2 loads page 2 without throwing a 404 error?

Hi there,

Can you first try resaving the permalink settings?
https://wordpress.org/support/article/settings-permalinks-screen/

If that doesn't help, can you disable all plugins except GP Premium to eliminate any conflicts?

If that still doesn't work, I would recommend asking your hosting support and see if they can identify the issues.

Let me know :)

I tried flushing the permalink settings and deactivating all plugins and the issue remained.

I have since installed the plugin "No Category Base (WPML)" and the issue is resolved — but I wish I didn't have to run yet another plugin!

What's your permalink structure set to? If it's something custom, that could be the issue.

The structure is set to "Post name". Nothing custom there.

I'm assuming there's something server related going on in that case, as Post Name shouldn't have any issues at all.

It's good that you found a plugin that fixes it, but it might be worth reporting to your hosting as well.
