I’ve tried to google for an answer and checked the forum but can’t find an answer to my problem. Since I started to use generatepress the number of 404 pages that google is finding, is increasing. I’ve now got 139 404-pages, where I had only a few before. Those were also actual errors on my part. Now it seems that images are seen as pages somehow and they apparently link to other such non-existing pages that aren’t there and shouldn’t be there. This page http://tarotstapvoorstap.nl/ace_of_pentacles/ which doesn’t and should exist links according to google to http://tarotstapvoorstap.nl/ace_of_swords/ another such page. Another 404 has a link from this one: http://tarotstapvoorstap.nl/20-het-oordeel-8/. this page does exist, but shouldn’t. It’s an image. The other non-existent pages probably also have to do with images. I really don’t understand what is happening here. And I probably shouldn’t call these pages pages, because they aren’t actual pages but they are also not image urls. I hope you understand what I’m rambling about. I do realize it might have nothing to do with generate press, but I’ve no idea who else to ask. Thank in advance, I hope you can point me in the right direction. Sincerely, Nelly

    Hi there,

GeneratePress itself can’t create pages – that’s all WordPress.

The pages (like this one: http://tarotstapvoorstap.nl/20-het-oordeel-8/) are attachment pages, which WordPress creates for every new image you upload. Images in WordPress are a custom post type, so they create new attachment pages for each image.

What’s an example of one of the 404s?

Thanks. This is one of the 404s: http://tarotstapvoorstap.nl/19-de-zon-9/
I have in yoast seo redirect attachment urls to parent post urls turned on. When I moved from my old theme to gp, I deleted unattached images. could that be the problem?

It could be that. If that was an attachment and it no longer exists, it will come back as a 404.
