2 column blog layout and generate after main content

I'm using a 2 column blog layout set in the GP pro customizer "layout" options.
I'm also using a element and hook that adds a block with text and a button using the "generate after main content" hook. This is set to display on category and tag archives.
If there's an even number of posts in the blog layout output, everything is fine. The element block sits below the blog layout.
However, if there's an odd number of posts, then a blank right column is left over on the in the blog layout.
The problem is this. If there's an odd number of posts, any hook element for generate after main content then fills this leftover right column in the blog layout, instead of sitting neatly below the blog layout. See the highlighted area on the screenshot in the private area.
How can I ensure the generate after main content sits underneath the blog layout as described above?

If not, is this using a block element with GenerateBlocks?
