1.2.62 Upgrade

Hi,
I installed the latest update, but I am using a child theme.
My version still shows the 1.2.9.8 child version.
How do I update my child theme? If I do, will I lose all my changes in functions.php and style.css?
If so, should I make a backup of these files before updating?

All the versions can get a little confusing.
The latest version of GeneratePress (the theme) is 1.2.9.8 - 1.3.0 is coming soon.
The latest version of GP Premium (the plugin) is 1.2.62, which was released today.
If you're using a child theme, you'll never have to update it, and you don't have to worry about losing your functions or CSS. You'll receive notifications to update the theme, but those updates won't touch your child theme.

I am still confused as to what the new update actually did, since I am using a child theme.
There is no hurry. Maybe you would like to explain it in more detail for us newbies tomorrow.
