Hi Dax,
Is this for a site’s default post list page or are you trying to add a “Latest post” listing on a page?
If it’s for your site’s default post list pages like Blog index page or Archive pages, I think the best way to do this is through the new GP Premium 2.0 Block Element content template.
If it’s a “latest post” listing to be added to a static page:
Ideally, you’d want to start with something close enough to how the site’s post looks.
Leo’s recommendation, WPSP Pro, has a style pretty close to it. (Overlay)

From there, can simply style the post list with CSS like applying border-radius and setting a :hover effect.
