Hi,
I’ve FALLEN IN LOVE with the Broadcast Theme, as I love the idea of clean and colorful featured image links to each blog post on the front page, and this theme is built for that.I am having trouble finding WHERE to limit the posts, however, and I’m sure the answer will need some CSS editing (if even possible). I’d love to be able to set the blog widgets in the front to Excerpts with a “choose-able” number of characters (or something) to keep them from getting too long.
Is there also a way or place to set the NUMBER of blog links on the front page as well with this theme?
Thanks for the help and the amazing GP Themes!
Take Care,
Erik(Current site is in a Test/SandBox place for now…the current REAL site is using WordSmith (which I also LOVE, but I’m leaning towards Broadcast if I can get it a bit closer…)

I see that the Blog GP Premium Module has an Excerpt Control, but that doesn’t seem to be working. I even tried simplifying as many plugins as possible (not a ton anyhow) to no avail…for what that might reveal.

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
Glad you are liking Broadcast 🙂
I am having trouble finding WHERE to limit the posts
Like how many posts showing per page? If so that’s under WordPress Readings settings.
I see that the Blog GP Premium Module has an Excerpt Control, but that doesn’t seem to be working.
Just to make sure, you mean these settings don’t work?
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/blog-content-layout/#archivesCan you make sure there aren’t any spaces entered in the custom excerpt metabox?
We had a bug report on this but not on Broadcast.
Let me know 🙂

Hi Leo,
Thanks for the kind help!
Ok…the excerpt function does work, but not for limiting the regular post text – it either gives me just the titles, or Full Posts no matter what word count number I put in.
Also, (and not sure if related) I use Thrive Architect, which I also LOVE (tried Elementor as well) and it is not obeying the “Title or Full” situation of the Word created posts – so no matter what the Thrive pages ramble on forever (and I FULLY want to create PILLAR blog posts – 2-5000 words, so that won’t be fun)
Forgive my ignorance, but where is the Custom Excerpt Metabox to look for spaces?
Thanks again,
ErikJuly 13, 2019 at 6:52 pm #957159Leo
StaffCustomer SupportThis is the excerpt metabox:

Let me know 🙂

Ok…more data on this…
Even CLEAN (no plugins – just Broadcast/GP) the Excerpt function is a little weird. It will give FULL, but the Excerpt gives only the Post Title – NO text no matter what number of words you ask for.
Also, popping a custom Excerpt into the Post Edit Excerpt Box doesn’t seem to work either (unless there’s a “make it use this” control I’m missing.
Thanks Again,

StaffCustomer SupportWhat happens if you create a new post?
Is the excerpt function work properly for the new post?
Let me know 🙂

The result is the same with a new post…excerpt function not really working.

Hi Leo,
I’ve just seen the More Tag actually works, so there’s at least “some” hope…

StaffCustomer SupportWow that was really dumb on my part.
Go to Additional CSS field in the customizer and remove this block of CSS:
.entry-summary p:not(.read-more-container) { display: none; }

WOW…thanks so much Leo…that is getting me to the Bank!!!
I’m now at least able to use the Manual Excerpt which is fine (works for Architect Posts, which I’m very happy with)
Thanks Again and Take Care,
