Dave
Hey guys, I have a post that I have added to Widget For Shortcodes and then made it visible only on the Home Page using Widget Options. I have then added the shortcode to GP Hooks. The goal is to have the post visible for temporary news items or alerts that the fire agency wants on their home page.
See URL in your admin notes.
Is there a better way of doing this? I’d like to be able to just place a post in “Draft” or activate a post expiration and have the post go hidden. My goal is to make it as simple as possible since I’m not going to be the one updating the site – the client will be and they aren’t super WP savvy.

StaffCustomer SupportHi Dave,
Sorry I’m not sure what you mean? Can you explain a bit more? or provide an example what you are trying to achieve?

I included the URL in the original question form where it asked for the URL (admin only sees this). The site is still under construction so I didn’t want to list it in the original question. Did that URL not come through?

StaffCustomer SupportYes it did and I saw the site. However I’m not sure what the problem is?
Like what’s not working?

Oh gotcha. That part that is white box/red border with the text about the Local Option Levy is currently visible, but its a temporary news message that eventually needs to come down and not be visible to site visitors. Currently I go in to the Widget section and find the Widgets For Shortcodes area and check the boxes to hide that particular post from all pages. Ideally, I would like that post to be hidden when I simply put that post in “Draft” status as opposed to “Published”
I’m wondering if you are aware of an easier way to do that possibly what what GP can do?

Simply put lol – I want a section where the client can post a quick note or alert (in the exact place it is now on the site) and then have it be just as easy to take the alert off when it no longer applies.

StaffCustomer SupportUnfortunately nothing I’m aware of. Things like this would require some custom coding.
Maybe try making a short clip to show the client how to add/remove the content though?

Yah that’s what I figured. Ok thanks!
