Ed
I have the latest and greatest of all the GeneratePress modules and theme installed.
I have enabled Dynamic Typography and added a Google font on the Typography page, and set the body to use this font. In the customizer, it shows up just fine. But I do not see it on the front end. I have cleared wp-rocket and used an incognito window in Chrome. But I never see the new font. I tried troubleshooting mode with only GP Premium enabled, but still no new font. I do not know where to go from here. Help, please!

StaffCustomer SupportHi Ed,
When I check your site, didn’t see any Google fonts, but if I add
?nowprocket
to your site URL which disable the WP rocket, the Google font shows correctly:
https://www.screencast.com/t/EiI2kBVKu4ZCan you try disabling WP rocket to test?

I did activate safe mode for WP_Rocket, and that did resolve the issue. That disables LazyLoad, File Optimization, and CDN options. I wonder why the troubleshooting mode did not correctly show them. I reenabled WP_Rocket, and the problem returned. I disabled CDN in WP_Rocket, and the fonts showed. I re-enabled CDN, purged my CDN (bunney.net), and cleared the WP_Rocket cache. The fonts were still missing. It seems somehow related to the CDN, but I have no idea what.

I read an article on WP_Rocket’s site that suggests that locally hosting Google fonts offers no performance value. So, at least for the time being, I have given up on local hosting of Google fonts. Thanks for your help.

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
having multiple CDNs is probably going to cause you a bunch of headaches as it means code is going to scatter across may servers and whose to say the correct code has been distributed.
You might want to speak with Bunny CDN or WP Rocket as to whether the two can be used together.

I am using WP_Rocket for caching, but not for CDN. It only references Bunny.net, my only CDN. Apart from Google’s CDN that hosts Google Fonts.
My font family is showing up correctly now. But changing the font size in the customizer has no effect on the front end.

StaffCustomer SupportI see a 20px font size on the body. What should it be displaying ?
April 1, 2023 at 8:10 am #2592126Ed
20px is what it should have been, and is now. I changed it to 18px just now, published the change, and flushed the cache, but the front end did not change. That is what happened yesterday when I went from 18px to 20px, and I had not bothered to check this morning. The CDN must eventually catch up with the change.

StaffCustomer SupportYeah, the CDN can take time to propagate changes. Might be worth checking with the CDN provider to see how long it should take.

Just noticed that this is still open. Thanks for your help. It eventually resolved itself. It does leave me with the question of how I can make timely changes when it takes so long to propagate. But that seems to be a CDN issue rather than GeneratePress. Thanks again.

StaffCustomer SupportYeah CDN propagations times will vary on the CDN and the size of the change.
But … you yourself shouldn’t really be experiencing those delays, have a chat with your host about it, they should make sure that you’re logged into your server and not viewing the results served from a remote server. -
