Hi,
I have an element set up to display the byline and date (By: Author Name   |  Post Date)
What I’d really like to do is display the post date when an article is first published.
But when it’s updated on a day that’s not the same as the Post Date (so I can make corrections if needed right after publishing), I want to change that to “updated (Update Date)”.
How can I go about doing that?

Are you using the block element with dynamic data?
If so the Replace with update date toggle option should be what you are looking for:
