The category panel (or whatever it’s called) doesn’t open. I have to constantly click it. It’s the one in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrWN7IN-JQ0 at minute 3:42 on the right. It opens after clicking on it a few times and appears normal after that but initially there’s something wrong.

That’s a default WordPress Feature. GeneratePress doesn’t have any code that should cause that issue.
Can you try #1 here to debug: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/
It’s recommended to backup your site before proceeding with this.
