Now there’s the option for fluid typography in WordPress core, it got me thinking whether there’s a way to achieve this in GP currently and if not, if there are any plans to address this in the typography manager as we only have the px, em/rem and % units available currently?

It would seem a fluid approach to typography would help to overcome so some of the sizing and layout quirks that can happen using fixed units and the default device breakpoints. I’m also interested by the approach Kadence has taken more recently introducing global variables for fluid typography settings which can be tweaked at a global level for consistency.

I really like using the GP typography manager to mange typography at a global level, mainly so I don’t have to set things individually at the GB level and have inconsistencies creep in, but the ability to set a base for fluid typography styles across a site in GP would be even more ideal, especially with WP and other tools introducing this concept more recently.

    Thanks

    Hi Gary,

Yes, we have plans to integrate fluid typography in GP (and GB).

We’re also looking at global variables: https://github.com/tomusborne/generatepress/issues/509

    Hi Tom

Thanks for your reply and great to know this is being factored in to the roadmap of both products!

Hopefully we’ll see some new fluid typography options in GP / GB soon 🙂

    Cheers
