I am running into several issues with an existing site that I switched to GP. I did not use a site from the library. Just working basic theme and elements.

    1) Header is being duplicated at the top. (showing twice)
    2) I used elements to customize the foother. It does not load well at all, much different from the preview.
    3) Home page is set to show the latest posts but it’s not loading with the proper layout

I also tried to use the Newsroom theme/site thinking I would get the exact same layout and structure. Unfortunately, it’s not the case. Honestly, if installing a GP Site on a clean install of WordPress is the only way, this is quite disappointing. I am not a techie guy, so I am in for some long hours of work here.

    Thanks

    Hi Marc,

Can you make sure all cache is cleared?

If so, can you try disabling your cache plugin to test?

    Thanks for the reply.

Do you mean deactivate only or deactivate and delete the plugin? I use WP-Rocket.

    Hi Marc,

    Just deactivating should be enough.

I deactivated the plugin. At my end I now see the folowing:

    1) Home page and posts loads well on desktop; header is not duplicated and custom footer is good
    2) Home page does not load well on mobile; header is still duplicated and custom footer is incorrect
    3) Posts load well on mobile

I just checked, with the cache plugin disabled, your site works well on both desktop and mobile.

You might have the mobile browser cache on your mobile device, try clearing it as well.

So the issue is from WP Rocket, if re-activating it creates the issue again, try reaching out to the plugin’s support, there might be a setting to help avoid the issue.

I thought I saw that GP has its own cache plugin? Or can you recommend one that you know will not negatively impact the site?

No, we don’t have a caching plugin.

WP Rocket should be good. Just try to disable any CSS/JS merging/combination/minification or anything of that sort. This setting often breaks a site.

Another plugin we recommend is Autoptimize: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/configuring-autoptimize/
