Erik
Hi, I have a home page built with GenerateBlocks where I’d like the thumbnail of the featured images in the grid to display as horizontals, showing the entire image. They were all cropped horizontally before uploading. However, I have this situation where some of them are horizontal, some are vertical, and some show only a portion of the image. Do you know what’s going on? Can I do something to make these grids show the image as it was cropped?

Hi Erik,
I checked the image sources and the images have different aspect ratios. Perhaps some images weren’t cropped to the aspect-ratio you’re going for?
We can force it to be displayed horizontally but there will be cropping for some images.
Let us know what you think.

It’s confusing because when I edit the page they all look exactly as they’re supposed to look:
And in the media library they are cropped just fine as well.

I see. That’s odd indeed.
I checked your site and it’s being served through Cloudflare which is a Content Delivery Network.
Perhaps the images stored there aren’t updated yet? Can you try clearing the cache of your CDN? If you didn’t set this up, can you ask your Hosting Provider to do it for you?
For reference, this is the image served on my end: https://www.beanpoet.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/how-to-buy-coffee-121122-1-546×728.jpg

I cleared the CDN cache but it didn’t seem to work. When I inspect it on the home page, I’m seeing a shortpixel.ai image URL with vertical dimensions on it. But in the editor, it’s definitely the image I uploaded with horizontal dimensions. I just wish I knew how to get that version back on the home page.

Do you have any optimization plugins? If so, can you try disabling those to check?
If that doesn’t work, can you try re-uploading this image?: https://www.beanpoet.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/how-to-buy-coffee-121122-1-546×728.jpg

I re-uploaded the image and it now displays as it should. Seems like I’ll have to re-upload every featured image that appears on that home page. Thanks for your help.

I see. It might have been a server issue. You’re welcome, Erik!
