Nicolas
is there a way we can customize the Category page with GP?
If not, how to do like on URL shared in PI field? Look:
– if you click to the Menu option “Salon”, only the posts categorized with Salon will appear.
– Same if you click on “Chambre”, “Jardin” or “Meubles”.Thank you

I’m not sure I understand what you are looking for, can you explain a bit more?

But you can try adding a WP category list block to your archive pages.February 5, 2023 at 1:26 am #2521846Nicolas
Ying, please have a look at the URL I shared in the PI Field info with my first message. You’ll understand what I mean in seeing the web site and its 4 category pages. I especially described the keywords in my first message.
Thank you

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
on the example website the Menu just contains a list of Category links, the same as your site.
So what do you want to change ?

Ok, let me try to re-explain better the “issue” I’m facing.
Please bear with me since I may be confused a bit about:
– what is feasible and what is not,
– what is best and what is not in terms of site structure to please Google and their SEO crawling and semantic analysis.Have you heard about semantic cocoons?
It means that your content is structured according to a semantic tree. Let me share an example of blog about Recipes.– Home Page: Recipes
– Category Page 1: Starters
– Category Page 2: Main course
– Category Page 3: Desserts
— Chocolate Desserts
— Ice Creams
— Fruits
— Apple
— Banana
— Lemon
– Blog
– AboutSee about the semantic structure above representing the site structure? That way, all the articles about Lemon should be categorized under the Lemon root. A blog does not respect such a structure and creates a semantic confusion while all the articles are listed under the blog root.
That is why I’m asking how I can respect such a semantic hierarchy while benefiting from a nice layout design.
I understand there may be 2 options:
– Option 1: On URL1, you can see that all the articles about Chambre (French for bedroom) are listed under the Chambre menu option. The Chambre page seems to be a Category archived page.
See the semantic hierarchy: Home ——> CHAMBRE ——> ado– Option 2: On URL2, you can see that all the articles about Gel (French for “gel”) are listed under the Gel menu option. But contrary to the option 1, the articles seem not to be posts but they seem to be pages.
See the semantic hierarchy: Home ——> GELS ——> Gels UV french-manucure blancNow, here are my questions:
– How do I best build a web respecting that semantic approach with GP?
– I need to have a very visual way of representing the different “content items” (be they pages or articles) for each semantic nodes.
– Would you recommend a ready-to-use template from your free library?Hopefully, my purpose is clearer now.
Thanks so muchFebruary 5, 2023 at 6:59 am #2522050David
StaffCustomer SupportThe Theme doesn’t really have anything to do here.
It’s how you choose to set WordPress up.For example:
1. DO NOT Create a blog page.
That is: In Settings > Reading –> DO NOT set a Blog Page and DO NOT set the Home page to show the latest posts.
2. Create your Post > Categories and assign your posts to them.
3. In Appearance > Menus, add your Category Links.
Now you only have post archives listed by their categories.
There is no blog or other page that mixes posts together.February 5, 2023 at 7:13 am #2522066Nicolas
Ok.
I think I will guidance later when I progress on my project (new blog).
1. Can you please confirm if the home page on the URL shared (blog about books) does correspond to a blog or if it respects your rule n°1:
1. DO NOT Create a blog page.
3. It goes back to my question: How can I customize the layout of Category pages to get something similar to this page
Again, what template in your library would you recommend to do what I want and get a clear menu visible on top of the screen for the visitors, as well as a nice, eye-catching layout to display the different posts on each category page and help them find EASILY what they’re looking for in a visual way (may be similar to the screenshot shared here)?

StaffCustomer Support1. Do you mean the
decoration japonaisesite?
If so, then yes.
That site has a static home page.
You could do the same using a static page and the GenerateBlocks query loop block to display different lists of posts.3. You can use a Block Element Content Template:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-content-template/If you’re looking for a custom design then i would not install a site from the library.
You may spend more time changing the design then making it from scratch.I suggest you find 1 design that you really like and work towards that.
If you ask for us to provide assistance then it makes it so much easier if we have one reference site and not many.February 5, 2023 at 11:44 am #2522420Nicolas
1. No, I meant the other site.

I had just installed the Avery template for I’m looking to create a very feminine style site for make-up products. I just removed it and I will rely on your assistance then. I’ll try to find one reference site along the way.

StaffCustomer SupportSo this site ? toutpourlesongles the one about nails ?
If so then that is a custom HTML page ( not WordPress ) and it just has a bunch of links displayed in a grid. -
