…and could not render a preview.

Is the message I got when trying to change the PAGES I was adding to the second element that holds 4 PAGES.

I try to add four PAGES in the Include Posts window but it is imprecise.

I need to play with it, sometimes adding FIVE pages and then it works and renders FOUR pages.

The attached shows how it is right now and working good on the front page displaying the four pages circled, but not the first page.

If I click the X to remove the first page is whengpp query loop error it gets “cranky”. So I leave it there.

So is this expected behaviour or a bug?

    Hi there,

You’ve set the posts per page to 4, so even if you’ve selected 5 or more posts, it will still show 4 pages.

The rest of the pages should be shown on the second page if you can enable the pagination by clicking the + icon of the floating toolbar.

I do not wish to show 5 posts. I wish to show the default 4 posts only.

But if I enable 4 posts only as shown in the red circle only 3 or sometimes 2 show.

Reason for putting in an additional post. It is like it needs a filler or padding.

The way it is, it works fine on the front page displaying four posts only.

    Hi there,

if you want to show 4 specific posts then you need to just:

    1. Add Parameter -> Include Posts, and select the posts you require

    DO NOT:

    1. Add the Offset value as that will remove the first post from the query. ie. you will see only posts 2, 3, 4 not 1, 2, 3, 4

    2. remove the Page option, as this too will affect what posts are displayed. If the posts you choose are not in page 1 of the query then those won’t be displayed either.

    Thanks David.

I was using the default settings as the Newsroom Template ships. Following your advice.

    1. I removed the default offset value of 1, and used 0.

    2. I left the Page option at 1.

The element now works fine. Thanks again for the awesome support!

It would be useful to find a way to document the Newsroom Template which I think is the most modern and adaptable template in the Generate Press Premium library.

An alternative could be to gather all the resolved support threads for this template into one thread for reference.

Yeah its a complicated layout, and that hero section is designed to show the 5 latest posts, which is why the Offset exists.
We will look to see if can make the options clearer, but its super tricky as there are so many options 🙂

Glad to hear its working and thanks for the feedback.
