    Hi there,

I am referencing a pluging [tdih] which i have added to the home page and a test page:-

    https://darkstories.com.au/
    https://darkstories.com.au/headline-of-the-day/

In cases where no content is present then a default phrase is setup to generate.

Can you assist identifying what the cause of the issue on the homepage might be please?

    Kind Regards
    David

    Hi David,

So we can have a fuller grasp of the issue, can you provide screenshots showing the issue with a short description as well?

    Hi Fernando,

Here is a screenshot link with two referenced pages side by side:-
    https://postimg.cc/Mnv03yQF

On page https://darkstories.com.au/headline-of-the-day/ use of the shortcode [tdih] generates the expected content successfully.

On the homepage https://darkstories.com.au/ the same shortcode [tdih] does not generate the expected content.

I have circled the two sections on the attached screenshots.

    Kind Regards
    David

I see. Thank you for clarifying.

With regards to such an issue, it would be best to reach out to the support of the plugin used as this would be out of our scope.

One thing I can advise to test is #1 here in case it’s a plugin conflict: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/

    Thanks Fernando.

I’ve continued with the analysis and am setting up footer widgets as a possible solution and have found that the homepage is not displaying any footer widgets. Following this navigation path then displays the message below:-

    Appearance > Customize > Widgets

“Your theme has 8 other widget areas, but this particular page does not display them.
You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customizer to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.”

Can you advise what the issue is with displaying footer widgets on the home page please?

    Kind Regards
    David

I see. In Appearance > Customize > Layout > Footer, what value did you set in Footer Widgets?

If it’s greater than 0, can you check if you do #1 here?: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/

There’s a class in your Footer that seems to indicate that it’s being altered by a plugin.

Hi, I want to get back to the original question which was can you assist in identifying what the cause of the issue on the homepage might be, please?

However, is this issue a theme issue as there don’t seem to be any functions existing to process shortcodes on the homepage? Is that correct? If so, how can this be worked around using the Generatepress theme?

    Regards
    David

There’s no code in GeneratePress theme or any of our products that should hinder a shortcode from working.

    It shouldn’t be a theme-related issue.

From past tickets, 100% of the time, the issue is caused by another plugin a customer has or a setting from the shortcode plugin itself. This is the reason why I suggested trying #1 here first: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/

    Some debugging questions –
    1. How are you inserting it? Are you using a WP Shortcode Block? If not, can you try inserting it through that?
    2. Can you try adding the Shortcode outside of the Grid panels which seems to be from another plugin? Try adding it directly to the page – not inside any Container, Grid, or anything else.

Hi there, thanks for your earlier advice. The plugin is working correctly on the homepage now. The issue was caused by a separate plugin that deactivated a suite of plugins on the home page. The issue is closed.

    Kind Regards
