I’m considering the technique mentioned in this topic for a few categories on my website, but I would like it if you guys could confirm the following please:
1- By creating a page with the same slug as the category and using the mentioned snipped, search engines will not index the original category/archive page because they won’t be able to access it, right? This means a no-index for the category page isn’t necessary.
2- This is not a redirect but rather serving a new page when the old archive page is requested, correct?
