Trish
Hi,
I have two issues… here’s my image to detail them best: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/35480102?key=e10db9415a963cfec23bc179c41e8d27
I’ve searched the site that has the proper padding but for the life of me, I cannot fix this one: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/35480101?key=87ad50441bd002776c1db3b2814a276e
And, I KNOW I changed the default background color (as you can tell in the first screen print above) but once again, I cannot for the life of me find where I made that change.
Please help?
Thank you in advance,
TrishDecember 19, 2022 at 6:53 pm #2467672Fernando Customer Support
Hi Trish,
1. The Background color should be changeable through Appearance > Customize > Colors > Body > Background.
2. You need to set the Content Container to default so that padding values set in the Customizer would apply: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/content-container/
Moreover, our primary advice for the spacing is to first add GenerateBlocks Plugin. Then add every content of a post inside a GB Container Block. Reference: https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/container-overview/#layout-%E2%80%93-standalone-block
Through this, you can easily set the spacing you prefer.

Hi Fernando,
Thank YOU… finally. As I said, I could not find it. Daaah, now it’s simple.
You said:
2. You need to set the Content Container to default so that padding values set in the Customizer would apply: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/content-container/My Response:
The container IS set on Default.PLEASE stop providing advice for the pagebuilder. I am using GeneratePress Premium only.

2. I see. GenerateBlocks isn’t a Pagebuilder though. It’s a free lightweight add-on plugin for GeneratePress for ease of editing. If you don’t want to use this, it’s alright.
With regards to the Content Container, I checked the specific Post in your screenshot, and it’s currently set to Contained. See: [screenshot removed]
Can you try changing that first? Let us know how it goes.

Now that is really weird. When I checked now… even refreshed the page to make sure, look what I see: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/35509843?key=6ca92b1bdcb18e6b990e689489fcea7f
I’ve noticed some odd behaviour with this site. When I tried selecting a lighter background colour, nothing happened… until I selected a solid colour… which I find odd behaviour.
How can YOU see the container as contained, yet I see it as Default?
That is REALLY weird… no?

StaffCustomer SupportI’m seeing it as contained on the live site as well.
Do you have a layout element created by any chance?
Check under Appearance > Elements.
The login info you’ve provided isn’t working for me either.

Would the script inside Simple CSS be doing this?
.entry-meta { display: none; } .entry-content p.has-background { padding: 0em 0em; }Plus, I have a Block Hook.

StaffCustomer SupportNo – the Contained container is the issue as Fernando and I have pointed out.
I was able to log in and this is what I see:
https://www.screencast.com/t/dPi7WIoaJdHCan you make sure it’s set to Default and click the Update button?
December 20, 2022 at 2:40 pm #2468723Trish
That IS weird… I disabled EVERY plugin except GP… emptied the cache… even turned the server side cache OFF… closed the site, then went back inside, opened the post and scrolled down the edit window… and HUH? There is the Container set as Contained. I changed it BACK to Default, saved the post and viewed it again… and VOILA!
Sooooo… are you thinking there was a conflict with a plugin then Leo?
I’m going to go back in now and activate all of the plugins… and… turn the cache back on too.
Thank YOU!!!!!

StaffCustomer SupportI don’t believe this is a plugin conflict.
When I went in, there was a message that says the last revision was not saved so perhaps you forgot to click the update button.
Glad it’s all working now 🙂

I clicked the save button, I closed and reopened the post… this I did BEFORE providing a screen print of the Default setting being displayed for me.
Heck, that was the FIRST change I made in HOPE of making the site like the other two sites I have GP on.
This site has been weird a few times now. Maybe it’s my browser… maybe the cache of the browser itself… I don’t honestly know.
I’m glad you suggested deactivating ALL plugins except GP… because THAT is what FINALLY did the trick.
The more I learn about computers, the more I realize that I don’t know about computers… never mind WordPress. 😉
Thanks again, Leo. You have been there for me BIG TIME!
Mucho’ appreciated.

Hey Leo,
Did turn out to be an issue with my browser. Once I had finally finished the project… pheeew! and closed the browser… when I went to open a browser again, it updated IMMEDIATELY. So, am chalking it up to the browser wanting to updated and I was not complying. Sheeesh… thought it only fair to let you know.
You see, that post has held the browser open for days, until I FINALLY got the layout the way I want it to look.
Have deleted all of my images for the sake of privacy. Hope Fernando will do the same for me, with his screen print above.
Thanks again!
I LOVE GP!!!!!!!
