    My website: https://cryptokra.com/

My menu items “Crypto” “NFT” “Metaverse” “Blogging” used to have this type of URL structure: https://cryptokra.com/crypto/

I have since changed the menu to link to category pages so it now has this type of URL structure: https://cryptokra.com/category/crypto/

However, the search engines keep populating the old structure so it’s giving the “Oops” error.

How/where can I update the info to correct this issue?

    Thank you!

    Hi there,

this: https://cryptokra.com/category/crypto/ is the standard permalink structure that WP generates for Category Archives.
If it was set to something different before, then did you use an SEO plugin for that ?

    Hi David,

The Category Archives were never set to anything different.

What happened was, I originally used “Pages” to create new pages to link to the corresponding menu names. This was my mistake, not understanding how best to set up the menu. I thought these new pages would populate the related blog posts, but I realized they wouldn’t.

So then I deleted those pages. And I linked the Category Archives, Which works fine.

My only issue now is that Google is still finding those old Pages I created. Is there an area in WP to fix this?

    Thanks

    Hi Raj,

I see. GeneratePress has no control over this. You may need to ask Google to recrawl your URLs to fix this issue.

    See: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/ask-google-to-recrawl

This article may also help: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-ask-google-to-recrawl-urls-of-your-wordpress-site/
